Nutrition for pancreatitis

Dietary soup in the diet of patients with pancreatitis

Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) is accompanied by severe pain. If left untreated, the disease becomes chronic, for which frequent exacerbations are typical. The pancreatic pancreatitis diet is mandatory. It is adherence to the principles of medical nutrition that significantly reduces the risk of developing an attack.

Diet characteristics

Nutrition for pancreatic pancreatitis has its own characteristics. The main task of the diet is to reduce organ activity. How to feed in pancreatitis so as not to worsen health? The main principles are:

  • complete rejection of fatty or fried and sweet foods;
  • lack of coarse fiber foods in the diet;
  • in the cooking process, only the cooking and steaming methods are used;
  • fractioned diet - food intake is performed in six to seven meals in small portions;
  • the food served must be pureed or chopped.

During the day, the patient should consume at least 2 liters of any liquid.

acute nutrition

The acute pancreatitis diet helps to eliminate the severe symptoms of an attack. Its purpose is to stop the production of pancreatic juice containing digestive enzymes. It is achieved by refusing to eat (in the first few days) and adhering to bed rest.

What can you eat with pancreatitis during this period? In the first one to three days after the onset of the crisis - depending on the severity of the patient's condition - the person will be completely hungry. Drinking is only allowed: alkaline mineral waters, a wild rose berry decoction, lightly fermented unsweetened tea, water. After stabilizing the condition and eliminating the pain syndrome, patients are given a food table.

After stopping the attack, the food must be divided - up to 8 times a day. The initial serving size is not more than 50-100 grams. As the low-calorie diet practiced during this period does not meet physiological standards, it is quite short: no more than 7 days. All the products used are boiled and the dishes are served warm and with a semi-liquid consistency.

Days Allowed Products
First Mash porridge paste, viscous soups with cereals (corn and millet are prohibited), vegetable decoctions, under-fermented teas with added granulated sugar, jams, homemade biscuits, fruit jelly and jam.
Second
Third Curd dishes: souffles, puddings, pasta, steam omelet.
bedroom Milk porridge.
Fifth Meat puree soup.
Sixth Butter (small amount), vegetable puree (cabbage is prohibited).
Seventh Meat or fish souffle.

Then, the patient is transferred to a basic diet, the variety of which depends on the presence of concomitant diseases. If we talk about which table is assigned most often then this is the 5P number. The diet for acute pancreas inflammation lasts 6-12 months.

Nutritional therapy for the chronic form

For patients with chronic pancreatitis, dieting is a lifelong obligation, as any mistake in nutrition can cause an exacerbation of the pathology. Each attack of the disease is accompanied by the partial replacement of functional tissues by fibrous tissues, which ends up leading to the development of insufficiency of the gland's secretory function.

Allowed foods for pancreatitis

During the period of exacerbation of the chronic form of pancreatitis, accompanied by severe pathological symptoms, the patient is prescribed a strict 7-day diet as in the acute form. After health improves, the patient is transferred to the diet according to table #5 P.

Its main features:

  • dishes served at the table must be clean or carefully cut;
  • the content of proteins, fats and carbohydrates meets the physiological needs of the body;
  • with poor assimilation of proteins, its percentage decreases due to the increase in carbohydrate content;
  • products containing fibers and extractives are completely excluded;
  • the amount of salt is limited to 6 grams per day;
  • fractionated meals - up to 6 times a day;
  • overeating is unacceptable.
